Pakistan May Strengthen Its Load-Shedding Policy

People buy emergency lights from a roadside stall during the blackout period in eastern Pakistan’s Lahore on January 17, 2012.

The emergency lights sale here has recorded 30-percent increase on expectation of higher power tariff and stricter load-shedding policy in Pakistan. Pakistan is facing a shortfall of 20,000MW per day, rendering the government to cut off residential power for eight to 14 hours each day. <Photo: Xinhua/Sajjad>
