Pakistani reporter’s funny viral video recreated in new Bollywood film
A few years ago, a Youtube video of a Pakistani reporter attempting to cover a scene at a railway station became viral. In 2015, a recently released Bollywood film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijan’ parodied the scene which, in turn, popularized the said reporter even more.
At a railway station in Karachi, Pakistan, a local TV channel reporter Chand Nawab struggles to record two lines for the footage as the overwhelming crowd passes in front of the camera every time. “People from Karachi are travelling to interior parts of the country to celebrate Eid (an Islamic religious festival at the end of the month of Ramadan) with their loved ones,” is all he has to say, signing off with “cameraman Kamil Yusuf, reporter Chand Nawab from Indus News, Karachi.”
The video shows the hilariously failed attempt at reporting as the reporter’s frustration starts to increase when numerous people walk in front of the camera. With the urgency of the passing train in the background, which is needed for the footage, he at first politely asks people to pass from the other route but it does not pay off. Eventually, he resorts to calling people names. At one point, he tells a man, “What a shameless man you are!” receiving a few laughs from the other passersby.
The Bollywood film recreated this scene where a popular actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the role of the reporter and attempts to say, essentially, the same lines as the pouring crowd hinder him. The viral video seems to have turned the reporter Chand Nawab into a popular figure where celebrities like Bollywood superstar Salman Khan want to meet him.
