Samsung advertisement strikes back at Apple
Samsung Electronics has struck back at Apple, not in their multiple courtroom fights over patents, but through newspaper advertisements.
The Korean company has released an ad campaign in newspapers both here and in the United States, directly comparing its Galaxy S3 with Apple’s iPhone 5, under the tagline “It doesn’t take a genius.”
The move came following the Korean firm’s defeat in a much publicized patent case in California and with the release of the iPhone 5.
The campaign places the two phones and their specifications side by side to show customers what they can expect from each product.
It provides a number of features for the Galaxy that the iPhone 5 doesn’t have, with a long list of trademarked smartphone functions doubling those found on Apple’s new device.
These include S-Beam, Direct Call, Smart Alert and Shake To Update.
At the bottom of the ad, it also implies that Galaxy S3 is more innovative than the iPhone 5 by saying, “The Next Big Thing Is Already Here.”
Apple fans have already started to fight back with their own parodies.
Mocking the new anti-iPhone 5 ad, they argue that it fails to include features exclusive to the iPhone 5.
One of the popular parodies has a counter tagline, “Don’t settle for cheap plastic,” and lists the number of features for the iPhone 5 as far more than for the S3.
Another says, “In High School, It doesn’t take a genius to know … who is just a bully,” to criticize Samsung’s original purpose.
Previously, Samsung ran an advertisement mocking Apple iPhone fans when it launched the Galaxy S2.
