Female Staff Members Of A Luxury Hotel In New Delhi Exhibit Self-Defense Skill

Female staff members of a luxury hotel exhibit their skills after a 10-day self-defense course initiated by the hotel management and Delhi Police women’s wing in New Delhi, India, Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013. A brutal rape of the 23-year-old student last month set off protests in New Delhi and sparked a national debate about the treatment of women across the country and the inability of law enforcement to protect them. Indian Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde announced a special recruitment drive for women police officers earlier this month and ordered every police station in the capital to be staffed by at least nine female officers to make them more attentive to women’s needs.
