GalaxyS3 certified being environment-friendly in China
‘GalaxyS3’ was recognized as the first environment-friendly cellular phone from the Government of China.
Samsung Electronics said “GaluxyS3 acquired RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) certification by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China.” It is the first time among the cellular phones being marketed in the world to get RoHS certification in China.
Samsung cellular phones which acquired RoHS certification at this time, are 4 different kinds of cell phones including ‘GalaxyS3’ being marketed through China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom in addition to ‘SCH-W999’, a dualcore dualscreen smartphone which was marketed in China last year.
‘RoHS’ is often referred to as the lead-free directive, but it restricts the use of the following six substances: Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBD). ‘RoHS’ was introduced for the first time in EU for the protection of ecological environment.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China is enforcing certification procedures through its official institutions such as CQC to prepare for more strengthened criteria than the existing RoHS regulations of the EU.
Relevant executives of Samsung Electronics said “GalaxyS3 proved not only being excellent in terms of human-oriented usability, technology and design, but also being an environment-friendly.
GalaxyS3, on the other hand, acquired SPC (Sustainable Product Certification) platinum certification from the UL (Underwriters Laboratories) of the U.S. last may.
