Asian nations surprised at NK Rocket launch

*Editor’s note: Asian nations seem to have been surprised at the North Korean launch of what it called ‘satellite’ Friday (April 13) despite the efforts of international community to stop the launch. Japan and most of the Asian countries reported it at about 30 to 40 minutes after the launch. 

Yomiuri Shimbun of Japan, citing South Korean Yonhap News, posted its first report about the North Korean missile launch at 8:15 a.m., about 35 minutes after the launch on its internet edition, The major Japanese daily also reported the Japanese governmen comment in which it said that “we have yet to confirm the launch despite some media reports.”

Meanwhile, another Japanese major daily Asahi posted the launch story at 8:16 a.m., one minute later than the Yomiuri. It just reported the government comment saying that “it has not yet confirmed the launch despite media reports.”

The Bangkok Post of Thailand posted the news of North Korean missile launch on its internet edition at 9:32 a.m. Friday (April 13).

 

The Straight Times of Singapore sent its first flash news about NK missile launch at 9:18 a.m. Friday (April 13).
The Jakarta Globe of Indonesia first reported NK missile launch at 9:20 a.m. Friday (April 13).
The Star of Malaysia was not confirmed when it first carried the story of NH launch. But the NK missle
story remained top on its site as of 11:50 a.m. Friday (April 13). 
The Philippines News Agency was not confirmed when it first reported NK missile fire though its reports cited
the South Korean Yonhap News.
 
The Taiwan News sent its first report on NK missile launch at 9:54 a.m. and its second story on 11:13 a.m. Friday (April 13).
 
The Hindu of India first reported the news of NK missile fire at 11:25 a.m. Friday (April 13). It cited AP.

Aljazeera first reported the news of NK missile fire at 8:40 a.m. Friday (April 13).
