Taiwan Experieces 6.1 Magnitute Earthquake

Passengers wait for the resumption of subway operation in a station of Kaohsiung, southeast China’s Taiwan, Feb. 26, 2012. A 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan’s Pingtung at 10:34 Beijing Time (02:34 GMT) on Sunday, said the China Earthquake Network Center (CENC).

Taiwan’s meteorological authorities said the epicenter of the quake, measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale, was 30.4 km northeast of Pingtung County. The quakes could be felt in Taipei. <Photo: Xinhua>
