Turkmenistan supports Afghanistan’s sustainable development
Turkmenistan supports Afghanistan’s sustainable development by initiating only peaceful settlement of the country’s problems and speaks for speedy implementation of new long-term economic projects, said Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
He made the remarks during the meeting with President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao who has arrived in Ashgabat, ‘Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary’ (TDH) state news service reported.
“Turkmenistan intends to further make efforts to render assistance to brotherly Afghan people and cooperate with the international community on these issues within the largest international organizations, in particular, the UN,” said Berdimuhamedov.
Takehiko Nakao, for his part, said that ADB fully supports Turkmenistan’s constructive foreign policy strategy and constructive international initiatives and is ready to render full assistance in the process of fulfilling them.
The ADB president emphasized the importance of the consistently implemented projects in such strategic spheres as supply of energy resources and electricity, laying new transportation corridors and connecting them to the regional network.
Earlier, Ashgabat expressed readiness to offer its political space for holding inter-Afghan peace dialogue under the auspices of UN and to actively participate in working out new political and diplomatic mechanisms for resolving this issue. (Trend.az)
