8 Soldiers Killed in Clashes with PKK

At least eight Turkish soldiers were killed and 15 were wounded on Tuesday in fighting with PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) militants in southeast Turkey, security sources said, in the deadliest clashes in recent months. 10 terrorists were killed by Turkish military forces in retaliation.

Terrorists attempted to attack a military outpost in Yuksekova town of southeastern province of Hakkari and eight soldiers were killed while 16 others were wounded in the ensuing clash on Tuesday morning.

Hakkari Governor’s Office said that PKK terrorists attempted to attack the Yesiltas Military Outpost in Daglica area in Yuksekova.

“In the ensuing clash, eight soldiers were martyred while 16 others were wounded. Large-scale offensive has been under way in the area where 10 terrorists were neutralized,” it said.

Heavy fighting broke out in three areas of Hakkâri province where the terrorist attacked to three different military post. Turkish military forces began a wide range of operation after the PKK attack. <Cihan>
