IUGG National Committee of Republic of Korea holds 33rd Conference on Mathematical Geophysics
SEOUL: The International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) National Committee of Republic of Korea will hold the 33rd Conference on Mathematical Geophysics (CMG2022) from June 20 to June 24 at the Seoul National University, Seoul City, ROK.
Welcoming The Year of Basic Sciences proclaimed by the United Nations, the conference will proceed with the online international panel discussion covering the topic ‘Basic Science and Mathematics for Sustainable Development.’ Five renowned international committee members including Motoko Kotani (President-elect of the International Science Council) and Michel Spiro (President of the International Year on Basic Science for Sustainable Development) will attend the conference
Established in 1919, IUGG is an UN-affiliated international organization consisting of eight associations and six commissions, where the CMG2022 belongs to. (http://www.cmg2022.org/)
The keynote address of the CMG2022 will be delivered by Professor Kwang-Yul Kim (School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Seoul National University) and Frederik Simons (Awardee of the Vladimir Keilis-Borok Medal for 2022, Department of Geosciences, Princeton University). This conference also provides an opportunity for the audience to attend the conference offline and meet famous public figures of the United States in person.
Professor Sang-mook Lee (Chairman of IUGG National Committee of Republic of Korea) said: “In this time’s conference focusing on mathematics and basic science for sustainable development, renowned figures will bring up their own broad experiences to find how international cooperation will achieve sustainable development goals via adopting basic sciences.”
