KBS celebrates 40 years of Arabic service with Arab/Korean walkathon

KBS world radio is celebrating the 40th anniversary of launching it’s Arabic service by holding a walkathon in Olympic Park Peace Plaza, inviting Arabs living in Korea to participate.

The walkathon expected to be held on Saturday, October 24, with over 1000 participants is organized by KBS world radio, and sponsored by a number of sponsors among them: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Korea Council of Sport for All, Korea-Arab Society, Gangwon Province, Pulmuone, Rebom Clinic, World Belly Dance Association, Korean Belly Dance Institute, Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission South Korea, Korean Belly Dance Institute, and Embassy of the State of Kuwait.

The KBS website promises participants who register online with souvenirs such as Halal-certified Ramen (Pulmuone “Nature is Delicious”), Lunch Box, portable outdoor folding mat and other gifts. There will also be a special performance, “Korea-Arab Show” staged after the walkathon.

and in introducing itself KBS Arabic Service since its first broadcast on September 10, 1975, has been Korea’s one and only Arabic radio service to the 22 Arab countries and Arabic speakers worldwide as they focus on Korean news and the growing efforts of cooperation between Korea and the Arab world.

During their forty years, the Arabic service in KBS hosted a number of prominent Arab figures such as previous Arab presidents and ministers as well as political and intellectual figures proving themselves to be a bridge between Korea and the Arab countries and the Korean Wave’s gateway to the region.
