Kyrgyzstan uses funds from fight against corruption to expand schools, build kindergartens
Bishkek: Some of the funds raised from the fight against corruption are being used to expand schools, accommodate more students and build kindergartens in several areas in Kyrgyzstan.
“Due to internal migration, schools in Bishkek, Chui and Osh Oblasts are overloaded. That’s why we decided to direct the funds of the Single Deposit Account to the construction of general education institutions and additional buildings,” Sooronbay Jeenbekov, the country’s president, said, quoted by the national news agency Kabar.
Jeenbekov attended ceremonies to lay the capsules for the construction of new buildings in the three schools.
During talks with builders, local residents and teachers at the ceremony in the village of Orok, he said that the funds of the Single Deposit Account would also be used for the construction of kindergartens.
Currently, the secondary school in Orok has three shifts and there is an urgent need to build additional classrooms. The new building of the school will consist of two floors and will accommodate 500 students.
School-gymnasium No. 12 in Bishkek also has an urgent need to expand its classrooms. The three-storey building of the general education institution will be designed for 385 seats.
Construction works are expected to be completed in 2020.
The minister has drawn a preliminary list of 15 schools where construction work will begin in 201, seven in Bishkek, another seven in Chui Oblast and one in Osh city.
The Single Deposit Account for funds raised from the fight against corruption, was launched in June 2018.
