Becoming trilingual is kindergarten play in Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek: A three-language learning system has been introduced in 80 kindergartens in Kyrgyzstan in pilot mode,
Under the system, children are immersed in Kyrgyz before lunch and in Russian after it, Nadira Jusupbekova, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan, said during a media conference, Kabar News Agency reported.
“In addition, during various games, the children learn a foreign language. This ensures the acquisition of two languages,” she said.
“The state language is introduced in all educational organizations. When the language learning pilot mode is completed, we plan to create such conditions that everyone will learn the language, along with Russian and one foreign language. After an analysis is conducted, we will disseminate the system to all kindergartens,” she said.
In 2017, 23% of preschool children go to kindergartens throughout Kyrgyzstan.
