No. 33 – 12 September 2012

Dear friend

Korean and foreign students went through the internship at The AsiaN during the summer vacation and went back to schools.

The interns have experienced a lot of things ranging from writing stories and translating foreign news stories to on-the-spot coverage for three to eight weeks. It was the third intership course following those in summer and winter vacations last year.

Some of the reportorial activities the intern reporters have helped finish include interview with Akira, winner of 2010 Manhae peace Prize as well as head of the Landmine Museum in Cambodia; visit to the statue of comfort woman in front of the Japanese Embassy in Seoul; and coverage of U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s special lecture given at Duksung Women’s University in addition to the production of video to cheer the Korean Olympic Soccer Team managed by Hong Myung-bo.

Of course, there were some who dropped out of the internship course due to some reasons.

The AsiaN and the Asia Jorunalist Association(AJA) are planning to offer more opportunities for undergraduate students from home and abroad.

This autumn, we are going to open internship course even during the semester. Please apply directly through the e-mail of The AsiaN(news@theasian.asia) and recommend other friends to do so.

Those who finished the third internship are listed below. I would like to express my deep appreciation for their devoted efforts during the internship course.

Meidyana Rayana, an Indonesian student studying Political Science and Economics, at the graduate school of Korea University; Uwalaka Temple U.B, Nigeria, MBA, SolBridge International School of Business; Doria J.
