Demonstration against the Kadyrov Bridge in Russia
Hundreds of demonstrators in St. Petersburg protested a proposal to name a new bridge after the previous Chechen president Akhmad Kadyrov.
Protesters claimed that the name of Kadyrov cannot be given to bridge since he had no connection to St. Petersburg.
Recently St. Petersburg city commission agreed on the proposal to name an unnamed city bridge after Chechnya’s first president Akhmad Kadyrov.
Akhmad Kadyrov became Chechen president in 2003. He was assassinated in Grozny in 2004.
