Saudi FM Visited Kazakhstan
Adel al-Jubeir, Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia paid his first official visit to Kazakhstan on April 27.
Al Jubeir met with his counterpart Erlan Idrissov and president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Two sides discussed bilateral relations, economic cooperation, investment and petrochemical development.
Erlan Idrissov said, “This is the first official visit of the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia to Kazakhstan since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. We attach great importance to the development of cooperation with friendly Saudi Arabia and are ready to deepen the political dialogue at all levels,” AKI Press reported.
Al Jubeir said that two countries have a common cultural background for 1200 years of the Islamic values and historical heritage: “Kazakhstan is like a reservoir of our heritage in this part of the world. I would also like to express a great respect to your present. Diplomatic solutions of any conflicts and efforts to provide stability and prosperity within the region outline our vision of the world and share the same legacy,” The Astana Times reported.
Saudi minister later met with the president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Kazakh leader pointed out the importance of bilateral relations, “Kazakhstan feels the support of Saudi Arabia since the first days of its independence”, Kazakhstanskaya Pravda cited.
Two sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations between ministries and officials of Kazakhstan announced that Nazarbayev will visit Saudi Arabia coming autumn to boost bilateral relations.
Saudi minister later joined the General Assembly of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security.
