Animate Dubai festival offers more opportunities to the region
Animate Dubai launches this December and the team are proudly announcing the festival schedule and new initiatives which are set to engage with their global following. A wonderful addition to the program of events is the ‘Works in Progress’ (WiP) component of the festival, a section that is now open for submissions.
Animate Dubai’s program will also include panels dedicated to animation education and financing, as well as workshops targeted at children, adults, and animation professionals. Sarra Maali, artistic director and animation film market coordinator, commented, “We are looking to highlight the immense pool of talent in the Arab world and facilitating a platform of exchange for the region’s aspirants to interact with international professionals in the field of animation.”
An overwhelming number of submissions have come through for Animate Dubai from the region including Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, KSA, and of course the UAE. Animate Dubai has also received a number of entries from countries with an emerging exploration of the animation world (Brazil, Venezuela, Singapore, South Africa) and countries that have spearheaded the animation tradition (France, Germany, Japan, USA, Estonia, Hungary, Czech Republic).
The festival’s diverse program features animations for adults, children, TV series, and feature-length films that are suitable for all age-groups.
