Seoul hosts Kimchi festival

Seoul city announced that the preparations for the upcoming Kimchi festival are starting, with the festival expected to run on 6 – 8 November, reported by KBS.

Over 6000 people are expected to participate, with over of 2000 of them being foreigners, in “Kim Jang” festival, which Kimchi making festival. Kimchi is especially popular with Koreans during winter. The festival is going to take place in Seoul’s City Hall.

The Kimchi made during the festival is later to be donated to low-income families. The city is holding another event called “Kim Jang cabbage festival” on 8th November in City Hall, where participants will be able to harvest over 5000 cabbage heads, which have been planted in the festival area, and they can have it for themselves or donate it.

During the festivals’ three days, some vendors will be selling “Kim Jang” ingredients such cabbages and spices around Gwanghamun area.

The city is expected to close down some of the roads leading to City Hall and Gwanghamun from 6th till 9th of November starting at 4 pm.
