Science ministers of ASEAN countries meet in Daejeon

South Korea’s largest consumer electronics and technology trade fair kicked off here on Tuesday, showcasing the latest mobile gadgets and telecommunication technologies. (Xinhua/Park Jin-hee)

On Tuesday 20th October, a meeting between science ministers in South Korea, Japan and China and ASEAN countries was held in Daejeon to discuss how to narrow the developmental gap between their countries.

The meeting was held in sync with (OCED) conference for science and technology. During the meeting, Korea called other ASEAN countries to work for a cooperated growth.

Choi Yang He, minister of technology and communication and planning, said in his political speech that during this meeting , they’re hoping to share scientific discoveries with other ASEAN countries and China and Japan.

He also added, “We hope to help in transferring science technology across Asia and also to other regions in the world.” As the meeting aims to strengthen the ties between South Korea and China and Japan with other ASEAN countries in fields of science and technology. The meeting is also expected to reflect the upcoming discussions to be held in Laos.

OCED convention which is being held in Daejeon, South Korea over the course of five days, under the slogan of “To create our shared future through creativity and technology”. It hosts over 3000 visitors from 57 countries and 12 international organizations.
