International Conference discuss Korea in Eurasian Civilization
“In the fast changing global order, research on peace initiatives and happiness is important for Eurasia,” says Northeast Asian History Foundation (NAHF) President Kim Hak-jun (Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asia Journalist Association) at a conference entitled ‘Eurasian Civilization and the Silk Road” held at the Seoul Press Center last December 10th. The conference was co-hosted by NAHF and Dongguk University’s Eurasia Silk Road Research Center (ESRR).
Introducing the co-host of the conference, Kim has nothing but praise to the ESRR director, Professor Yoon Myong-cheol. “Professor Yoon is not only an explorer, but a scholar who looks into new historical models for East Asia, Mediterranean Sea, and Continental and Peninsular Civilizations, someone who understands the truth of history and has profoundly contributed to this field of study, Kim said.
In this conference, scholars from 7 countries of Korea, China, Mongolia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Iran have participated in this event who presented topics on history, anthropology, archeology, international politics, as well as tribal and racial cultures of Korea, Turkey and Central Asia. Special focus on the historical connection of Korea to the Silk Road from the perspective of these countries was given.
ESRR Senior Researcher Kim Jang-gu said that, “In this forum, we were able to know the culture of Korea has expanded into China, Mongolia, Russia and Central Asian countries as well as the common cultural points that these countries should look at.” NAHF and ESRR is sent to continue these initiatives to promote international understanding and an effort to see Korea from another country’s perspective.
