Sri Lankans urges Indian gov’t not to interfere with their internal affairs

The protestors urged India not to interfere in Sri Lanka’s internal affairs after the Indian government objected to a Sri Lankan government’s plan to withdraw key powers from the provincial councils set up after the end of a quarter century civil war. The dispute goes back to an agreement the countries signed in 1987 to set up the councils to devolve power in an effort to end Tamil militancy. <AP Photo/NEWSis>
