Filipino women perform traditional hand embroidery on pineapple fabric

In this April 18, 2013 photo, a woman does hand embroidery on pineapple fabric outside their house in Lumban town, Laguna province, south of Manila, Philippines. In this small town in the Philippines, women are keeping a centuries-old tradition of hand embroidery alive. But while Lumban town continues to be well known for this cottage industry, the handicraft is being challenged by the cheaper machine-embroidered alternative and the lack of interest from the youth to carry on with the tradition.
