Violinist Jenny Bae launches a classical crossover album
Jenny Bae, one of the distinguished violinists in the world, came up with a classical crossover album blending contemporary favorites with traditional Korean instruments.
Bae is giving her fans a unique opportunity to be a part of this new album as she will be producing the record via the crowdfunding platform called ‘Kickstarter project.’ For this album, she has been collaborating with many of her artist friends she has met through her musical journey on a collection of classical favorites with a modern twist.
Bae, a graduate from Julliard School in New York, where she was taught by the world renowned violinist Dorothy DeLay has performed at numerous major international events for over a decade. One of Bae’s first live performances came in 2000, when she returned to her hometown of Seoul. The Peace concert was performed to a crowd of 90,000, with Bae appearing alongside the late Luciano Pavarotti. Since then she has performed with numerous other world famous stars, such as Eric Calption, Lionel Ritchie and Andrea Boccelli.
In 2001, she collaborated with The Poland Philharmonic at the Rheingau Musik Festival, beforebeing invited personally by Luciano Pavarotti to perform at his annual ‘Pavarotti & Friends’ charity concert in Modena, Italy in 2002.
A known soccer fan, Bae played at the 2006 World Cup finals in Berlin, Germany alongside the likes of Wyclef Jean, Shakira and Placido Domingo, as well as in front of 70,000 fans at the home of Manchester United FC during the halftime of a match against Chelsea FC. Bae went on to feature on their single “Glory Glory Man United”, with her page on the MUFC’s website being the most hit page in the history of the site.
She has participated in a number of charities, and has performed at numerous humanitarian benefits. As a goodwill ambassador for the Red Cross, she made a speech at The United Nations, and in 2008 she became the first South Korean to record with the North Korean Symphony to help raise the money to build proper hospitals in North Korea.
Bae has also played to notable guests such as Mikhail Gorbachev, George Clooney & Peter Gabriel at the Nobel Peace Laureates Summit in Rome in 2007 & 2008, whilst hosting a charity event with Ascot and the Aegis trust to raise money and awareness for the victims of modern day war crimes and genocide in May of last year.
