Mo’s win of Nobel prize expected to boost cultural,media stocks
Mo Yan, one of China’s leading writers of the past half-century on Thursday won the Nobel Literature Prize for his writing that mixes folk tales, history and the contemporary.
The news is likely to boost shares related with Mo Yan concept, especially stocks in cultural, publishing and media sectors.
Mo Yan, 57, became the first Chinese national to win the prize, and his works explore the brutality and darkness of 20-century Chinese society with a cynical wit.
His acclaimed works include “Big Breasts and Wide Hips”, “Republic of Wine”, and “Life and Death are Wearing Me Out”. Besides, Mo Yan has published novels, short stories and essays on various topics.
Spurred by Mo Yan’s Nobel prize, traditional publishing firms and electronic bookshops will likely see sales surge of Mo Yan’s works soon.
