[India Report] India to share Jundal dossier with Pakistan
Abu Jundal is one of those accused in connection with Mumbai attack which took place on Nov. 26, 2008. It was coordinated shooting and bombing attacks across Mumbai, the largest city in India, by Islamist terrorists who came from Pakistan. The attackers allegedly received reconnaissance assistance before the attacks.
Ajmal Kasab, the only attacker who was captured alive later confessed upon interrogation that the attacks were conducted with the support of Pakistan’s ISI. The attacks, which drew widespread global condemnation, began on Wednesday, 26 November and lasted until Saturday, 29 November 2008, killing 164 people and wounding at least 308.
Abu Jindal was the key handler of the attack of 26/11.
The important news media of India like the Times of India, IBN-CNN, India Today, Hindustan Times, reported that India is expected to share a dossier on 26/11 plotter Abu Jundal’s links with Pakistani state actors during the meet of Foreign Secretaries of the two countries to be held in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani is in New Delhi for talks with his Indian counterpart Ranjan Mathai. Official sources said copies of the Pakistani passport and Pakistan’s domestic identity cards issued to Jundal in the name of Riyasat Ali will be given to the visiting delegation. The information which came into light is that the Pakistani passport of terrorist Syed Zabiuddin Ansari, alias Abu Jundal, has shown him as a resident of Sheikhpura in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
The passport, which was issued in the name of Riyasat Ali, was issued by the Pakistan government to Jundal in 2009 with a validity of five years. His father’s name was mentioned as Mohammad Khushi in the travel document. It has a valid visa of Saudi Arabia which was issued on the basis of the passport issued by Pakistan. The passport issued to him is really a crucial one as it is critical in some aspects, such as- 1. Abu Jundal flew to Saudi Arabia with this Passport, 2. It seems it would not be able for him to obtain Passport without any kind of state help, i.e help from inside, 3. It tells about his place of residence. Apart from the passport, Pakistan has also issued two national identity cards to Jundal in the name of Riyasat Ali.
Armed with these documents, Pakistani authorities have been pressing Saudi Arabia to hand over Jundal to them after his detention in Riyadh. However, India has been successful in getting the custody of Jundal by submitting documents related to his Indian citizenship besides giving DNA samples of his parents to externally support its points.
Interrogation also reveals that Abu Jundal and his organization Laskar-e-Toiba were also planning to attack police academy in Nasik. Though Pakistan seeks all information about what Abu Jundal has said, but India declared that they will not share any details unless the interrogation is over, but copy of the Passport and I-card of Abu Jundal will be shared with the Pak foreign secretary.
