Works of disabled painter exhibited in UN
Dennis Han(34 years old)’s Painting Exhibition was held on April 9 – 13 at the United Nations Delegates’ Entrance.
Dennis Han, despite his disability, portrays pure human hopes and dreams.
On the evening of Monday 9 April, there was an opening reception for the Dennis Han Exhibition. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Permanent Representative Kim Sook, and ambassadors from more than 40 nations attended.
In his congratulatory message, SG Ban Ki-moon shared encouraging words to Dennis Han and his family. He stressed that ‘disability’ is different from ‘inability’ and just one way of seeing the world. He also called for the world’s further work to help the disabled to fulfill their potential and seek for happiness.
Through his remarks, Ambassador Kim Sook introduced Dennis Han’s pure world of art, emphasizing that the fundamental spirit of UN activities to further the rights of the disabled is not to treat them differently but to recognize that we all share the same emotions and feelings.
His paintings were exhibited at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris in 2004.
