A Stowaway In Suitcase Stopped

EDIRNE, Turkey — A 22-year-old German man was arrested on Saturday for attempting to smuggle a 20-year-old Lebanese man in his suitcase across the border from Turkey to Greece. The Edirne Customs Enforcement Directorate in Smuggling and Intelligence arrested the German at the Pazarkule border crossing while he was trying to enter Greece on foot, dragging a heavy suitcase with difficulty. When the customs officers ordered him to open the suitcase, a Lebanese man was found curled up in the fetal position, a scene that appeared to shock officials and onlookers. The Lebanese citizen was turned over to the Center for Deportation, attached to the foreigners’ branch of the Edirne Police Department, and the German citizen was taken into custody. <Cihan News Agency>
