Uzbekistan population reaches 33.7 million
Tashkent: The population of Uzbekistan has reached 33.72 million people as of October 1, the State Committee on Statistics’ report on the demographic situation said.
Since the beginning of the year, the number of people has increased by 469,000, representing 1.4%.
The percentage of people younger than the employment age is 30.5% of the population, while that of the working age is 59.1% and of the older than the working age is 10.4%, KABAR news agency reported.
In the first nine months of this year, 589,700 children were registered, making the birth rate per 1,000 population 23.5 ppm, and increased by 1 ppm compared with the same period in 2018.
During this period, 112,200 deaths were registered. The mortality rate was 4.5 ppm, decreasing by 0.1 ppm compared to the same period last year.
Natural population growth has amounted to 477,500 people and increased by 36,700 compared to the same period in 2018.
The number of those who arrived into Uzbekistan amounted to 117,600 people (internal – 115,600 people, external – 2,000 people), and the number of departures was 126, 100 people (internal 115, 600 people, external 10,500 people).
The migration balance has reached minus 8,500 people, while in the same period last year it was 11,700.
According to KABAR, the number of persons who have arrived in Uzbekistan for permanent residence was 1,971, of whom 31.1 % came from Kazakhstan, 23.1 % from Tajikistan, 22.8 % from Russia, 13.3 % from Kyrgyzstan and 9.7 % from other countries.
At the other end of the spectrum, 10,500 people have left Uzbekistan for permanent residence abroad, of whom 57.4 % went to Kazakhstan, 37.3 % to Russia, 0.9 % to the United States, 0.8 % to Israel and 3.6 % to other countries.
