Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait agree to boost ties, sign MoUs
Bishkek: Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait have signed two memoranda of understanding as the two countries discussed ways of bolstering their relations and cooperation.
Delegations from the two countries met for the second session of the Joint Kyrgyz-Kuwaiti Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Technical Cooperation in Bishkek, the press service of the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Finance Minister Baktygul Jeenbayeva headed the Kyrgyz side delegation while Finance Minister Dr. Naif Falah Al-Hajraf led the Kuwaiti side.
The session coincided with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait, KABAR news agency reported.
During the session, Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait discussed the activation of cooperation in the areas of trade, agriculture, energy, education, science, tourism, healthcare and culture.
Jeenbayeva proposed to work out practical measures to enhance economic cooperation, including between economic entities, to create favorable conditions for mutual supply of industrial and technical products, raw materials, consumer goods and food products.
The establishment of joint ventures and logistics centers in the Kyrgyz Republic, which will significantly expand the country’s export opportunities, was also proposed.
According to KABAR, important agreements were reached in education, culture and energy.
The two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the State Commission on Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Waqf and Islamic Affairs of the State of Kuwait and a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research of the State of Kuwait.
