Rare musical instruments displayed at Baku exhibition
Baku: Close to 200 rare musical instruments from the 18-20th centuries are showcased at an exhibition at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
The exhibition “Musical Instruments: Unity and Diversity” features historical exhibits and offers a rare opportunity to listen to musical instruments.
AT the opening ceremony, Rector of Azerbaijan National Conservatory, People’s Artist, professor Siyavush Karimi hailed the importance of the exhibition that was opened ahead of the National Music Day, national news agency TREND reported.
Other speakers at the event also described the organization of the exhibition as a landmark event in the cultural life of the Azerbaijani people.
Heydar Aliyev Center is a cultural complex designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid.
It houses a conference hall with three auditoriums, a library and a museum. The project is intended to play an integral role in the intellectual life of the city.
Located close to the city center, the site plays a pivotal role in the redevelopment of Baku.
An internationally recognized architectural work, the building of the Heydar Aliyev Center has become a signature landmark of modern Baku due to its innovative and cutting-edge design.
TREND said that the building was nominated for awards in 2013 at both the World Architecture Festival and the biennial Inside Festival.
