Islamabad: Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir will be arriving Pakistan on Wednesday on a one-day official visit.
According to the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Islamabad, the Saudi minister will meet Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa to discuss bilateral matters and the regional situation.
Al-Jubeir had paid a daylong visit to Islamabad in March as part of Riyadh’s efforts to seek de-escalation in tensions between Pakistan and India.
He had met PM Imran, FM Qureshi and army chief General Bajwa to convey an ‘important message’ from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman to Pakistan’s civil and military leadership.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Imran and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed latest developments in the region in a phone call.
The contact between Islamabad and Riyadh comes at a time when the lockdown in Indian-administered Kashmir nears a month after India’s unilateral August 5 move of revoking Kashmir’s Special Status.
