Islamabad: Pakistan has successfully carried out night-training launch of surface-to-surface ballistic missile ‘Ghaznavi’, Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said on Thursday.

The ballistic missile is capable of delivering multiple types of warheads up to 290km, the military’s media spokesperson wrote on Twitter.

The DG ISPR added that the president and prime minister conveyed their appreciation to the team and congratulated the nation. He also shared a video of the launch in his tweet.

In May, Pakistan conducted a successful training launch of Shaheen-II, a surface-to-surface ballistic missile capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads up to 1,500 km.

ISPR described Shaheen-II as a “highly capable missile, which fully meets Pakistan’s strategic needs towards maintenance of desired deterrence stability in the region”.

In March, Pakistan Navy and Air Force jointly conducted long-range anti-ship cruise missile firings in North Arabian Sea, demonstrating its fire power and combat readiness.
