Samsung launches Galaxy S10 in 70 countries
Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday it released its new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S10, in about 70 nations and is poised to expand into 50 others later this month. The South Korean tech giant launched the regular Galaxy S10, the S10+ with a bigger screen and the S10e, a budget model, as it celebrates the 10th anniversary of the series’ launch. Preorders for its 5G model will begin March 22, with the official launch schedule not yet confirmed.
The smartphone puts a front-facing camera in a punch hole in the main display itself for a wider viewing experience and features the world’s first ultrasonic fingerprint reader right on the screen. The S10+ offers up to 1 terabytes of storage and five cameras in total to enhance the mobile experience.
As the S10 incorporates a reverse wireless charging system, the smartphone can be used to charge their wireless earphones, the Galaxy Buds, by placing them on the rear of the smartphone. Approximately 180,000 Galaxy S10s were registered by South Korean users on the first day of its preorder sales on March 4, including some 40,000 unlocked phones, surpassing the performance of its predecessor’s 150,000 units, Samsung said. The company has been hosting parties with K-pop stars for Galaxy smartphone users in major cities in South Korea since Feb. 28 to boost its sales.
