French Development Agency supports agricultural development in Uzbekistan
French Development Agency (Agence Française de Développement – AFD), a financial institution and the main implementing agency for France’s official development assistance to developing countries, is taking an active role in the development of agriculture and modernization of the sector in Uzbekistan.
Nowadays a group of experts from the France office of Agency is investigating regions of Uzbekistan together with Tashkent representative of the institution to understand how and in what to support local projects in modernization and diversification of agriculture.
Economist and research officer Gaëlle Balineau, head of the department of Agriculture, Rural development, Biodiversity Sustainable Development of the Agency Benoit Faivre-Dupaigre and Raphaël Jozan, head of AFD in Tashkent have visited Namangan region of Uzbekistan.
“We are sure that Uzbekistan has big opportunities for development of agriculture. During our visit, we see that if to develop logistics and certification system in the branch, to diversify and modernize the sector, Uzbekistan will have significant results. The policy of the government of Uzbekistan on agriculture, how they want to realize the sustainable development program, can be seen with the naked eye. We are ready to share a big experience of France with the country”, says Raphaël Jozan.
