The English poetry anthology titled “The Memory of Silence” by Ashraf Aboul-Yazid was released in India. The anthology is the collective result of the efforts by the publishing house; Poetrywala, poet and publisher Hemant Divate, the artist of the cover painting Shirish Kathlac, and the poet, critic and professor of architecture Mustansir Dalvi.

Dalvi, the poet and translator, writes about this anthology: “Like the soft susurration of the title of his first book of poems “The Whisper of the Sea,” his voice speaks to our soul directly. His memories are a map rolled open, containing multitudes, cities and rivers, balconies and butterflies, evenings and sadness. We enter this atlas of Ashraf Aboul-Yazid’s selection of poems from his largest oeuvre to introduce it to the audience.”

The book includes a wide variety of poems from the previous books of poems by Ashraf Aboul-Yazid, in additional to few poems that weren’t published before. An example of the poems include:

“When the tale of love
looked for its legends,
it found us.”

“Love lit a candle in the dark,
the candle melt into one thousand and one stars,
to cover us with light.”
