South Korea to construct terminal at Tashkent airport

uzbekistan_flightSouth Korea will construct a new terminal of Tashkent International Airport (Tashkent-4) by the end of 2019.

Representatives of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) have presented official results of a feasibility study for the terminal’s construction in Tashkent, said the press service of the Uzbek Embassy in Kyrgyzstan. Preparation of the feasibility study was started in January this year and is to be completed this July, The Times of Central Asia reports.

The new terminal will be able to serve 1.5 thousand passengers per hour. An official website of Uzbekistan announced the details about the project.

“The South Korean government will take every effort to transform the capital’s airport into the linking airport in Central Asia by introducing the Korean know-how and experience in the airport construction and maintenance. The project is elaborated by the South Korean consortium led by the management company of the Incheon Airport. The construction of a new international terminal, according to expert estimates, might cost $312 million. Most of the funds, about $300 million, is likely to come from foreign and particularly South Korean investors and loans.”
