Ailee releases “vivid” first album
Ailee who debuted in 2012 has definitely come a long way until she finally released her first full length album in 2015.
Amy Lee or as she’s better known as Ailee was a Korean youtuber wanting to get noticed for her powerful voice, and got the recognition she needs when she flew back to South Korea, where she auditioned in a number of talent shows and won most of them.
Her first songs “Heaven” and “I will show you” were powerful and different, and it set the bar too high, but Ailee managed to surpass her first success with a single after another. She released a couple of extended plays, and with her style that mixes Korean pop with R&B, she was even dubbed the “Korean Beyonce”.
In her newest album “Vivid”, Ailee is back with strong vocals and some statement lyrics. The title track “Mind Your Own Business” is a typical Ailee song, as she belts her vocals, it’s a sassy and a powerful song about getting her revenge on a boyfriend. while the accompanying song “Insane” is quite the opposite as she sings about the hardships she faces when she’s trying to get over the loss of a loved one. In her stages, Ailee is set to perform these two songs out of the ten new songs in the album.
When the music videos were released the difference between the two songs was apparent. In “Mind your own business” Ailee is seen breaking out of jail, performing strong dance moves, while in “Insane” which is a reminiscent of her first song and it’s first music video “Heaven” the atmosphere is quite melancholic with dreamy curtains and black and white theme.
It’s worthy to mention that Ailee collaborated with a couple of artists for this album, among them was her best friend F(x)’s Amber, as they sang together “Letting Go”. As Ailee also took part in writing some of the songs in the album like “Second Chance” and “Fill Your Glass”.
Ailee began promoting her album, with Instagram posts and during her first comeback stage she performing in a cast over her leg, as she got hurt during the preparations, but she got through the stage despite that.
