GSMF 16th forum in Gyeonggi
In its 16th forum, Global Students Mentoring Forum chose Gyeonggi creative economy and innovation center (CCEI) as their destination.
G-CCEI was established by Korean government’s joint partnership with Gyeonggi province and other chaebols and business giants to foster IT projects. They have up till now 18 partnerships aiming to become a global hub for games projects through innovative startups and CCEI’s networks, locally and internationally.
Mr. Lim, Dong wook director of the Gyeonggi center, gave a speech explaining their main goal which is helping other entrepreneurs starting their own businesses. He explains their goal in helping teams with good ideas to have a company of their own in 6 months. He explains the different techniques they use, and the floors of the building and their usage.
This was like an invitation for the students attending the forum to come up with their own ideas.
It was followed by introducing GSMF by two of the GSMF students, James and Sojin. It’s a student’s union sponsored by the likes of (S-oil, daum kakao, naver), and they have over 1104 students from 78 countries registered in different 73 universities across South Korea. Their vision and motto is: learn, create and network. As each forum they learn about a country, meet together and do a lot of activities, as their activities include monthly forums and summer and winter camps, they’ve also went to places like Everland and Caribbean Bay. They’re highly active on SNS and their newsletter is getting more exposure, as it’s getting translated into more languages by the students.
One of the members of the GSMF and the main host of the forum was an Egyptian student named Sami Rashad, who majored in Korean language in Egypt’s Ain Shams University, and studying Korean linguistics in Seoul National University. Sami is also one of the foreign speakers on the Korean popular show “Non Summit”, which is a show for foreigners living in Korea where they discuss important issues in Korean.
