KHNP and Ulsan Univ. collaborate for welfare activities in Kyrgyzstan
Korea Hybro & Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP) and ‘Global Voluntary Team’ of Ulsan University left to Ivanovka, Kyrgyzstan on 23rd August.
‘KHNP-Ulsan University Global voluntary Team’ of 33, including 10 from KHNP, are to perform voluntary service for 9 days in Ivanovka. Kyrgyzstan which is one of the world’s poorest countries, and whose 30% of the population is in ‘absolute poverty’. In particular, Ivanovka, which is known as a densely poor, refugee area, is in desperate need.
The team is set to deliver learning materials and create places to learn and play for children with education and voluntary activities including Taekwondo and science classes.
Lee Jong-ho from KHNP, who participated in the global voluntary team said “Collaborating with Global Voluntary Team from Ulsan University, I want to give hope to children in Kyrgyzstan who rarely had opportunities for cultural and educational activities.”
KHNP signed MOU with Ulsan University in May, after a bilateral MOU with the Seoul National University in January 2014.
