[AJA Global Report] Uzbekistan to participate in the K-POP World Festival 2014

Lolita Vagapova will represent Uzbekistan in the international contest K-POP World Festival 2014 to be held in Changwon city, South Korea, in October this year reported Jahon information agency.
Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan hosted the preliminary stage of the Korean song contest. Applicants were over 60 participants. And only ten contestants got the chance to perform in the final, took place in the Turkiston Palace.
Lolita Vagapova, laureate of national and international competitions, talented 15-years old singer, won the first place and earned the chance to perform at the K-POP World Festival 2014.

Lolita impressed the audience and the jury with emotional performance and the harmonious sound of national Uzbek instruments, accompanied her singing. This original mix has determined her victory in Tashkent. Lolita has been singing since early childhood. She was four when she started to practice vocal.

Last year Uzbekistan was represented in the K-POP World Festival 2013 by the girl group “Alladin”, who won Best Group Performance with their rendition of Miss A’s “Bad Girl, Good Girl.”

The K-POP World Festival is an annual event organized since 2011 by South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the support of numerous government agencies. After going through a few preliminary rounds, fans of K-pop are invited by the South Korean government to take part in the final round of the competition held every year in Changwon city.

Uzbek athletes in II Youth Olympic Games

28 athletes of Uzbekistan were participated in the II Youth Olympic Games, held in Nanjing, China August 16-28th, 2014 reported the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.

Young athletes of Uzbekistan competed in 14 sports: boxing, judo, weightlifting, rowing, shooting, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, greco-roman wrestling, women’s wrestling, swimming, canoe and kayak, taekwondo and table tennis.

Especially, performing in the boxing ring in the weight category of up to 69 kilograms, Bektemir Melikuziev delivered knockout to Belarus player.

After the hard works of young players, Uzbekistan took four gold, three silver and three bronze medals.
