No. 62 – 3 April 2013
Dear friend,
I hope your past week was full of happiness and good health. This week I would like to share a passage written by one of our readers. “In this age where the Internet is full of articles trying to grab people’s attention and often lacking credibility, I am happy to see The AsiaN’s fresh articles and illustrations. Even though there must be many difficulties, I hope for the continuous growth of The AsiaN.” This was a message from Kim Tae-young, former Chairman of the ROK Army Joint Chiefs of Staff and Korean Minister of National Defense from March 2008 to December 2010. Such kind words both give us encouragement as well as pressure to improve our quality and develop. I was happy to see several people related to the Asia Journalist Association, one of the pillars of The AsiaN, mentioned in Korea Donga Daily’s annual list of the “100 people to be spotlighted in Korea in 10 years.” The Asia Journalist Association’s goodwill ambassadors mountaineer Um Hong-gil, and former Korean national Olympic football team Coach Hong Myung-bo, and newly appointed Minister of Gender Equality and Family, Cho Yoon-sun. Among the three, former Coach Hong Myung-bo made the list three years in a row. “The written notes of a fool are better than the memory of a genius. Making notes helps avoid mistakes when working and the collection of such notes helps one to view people and the world,” said Kim Moon-soo, Governor of Gyeonggi Province. “There’s no place for shame in reading and taking notes. Unorganized knowledge does not have meaning. One should not stop at reading a lot, but make a habit of clipping and making notes,” said Park Won-soon, Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan City. The AsiaN promises to do its best to provide you with articles and columns that you can clip and make notes of. April 3, 2013 Sincerely, |
