[Indonesia Report] Indonesia will strengthen cooperation with Britain in energy resources
Indonesia President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s visits to London last week will promote cooperation between Jakarta and London in the field of energy and resources.
According toKompos.com, Indonesian Minister of Natural and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik who accompanied the president said that Indonesian government asked for more investment from British Oil and Gas Companies. Development of Natural Resource was one of the major agendas talked about in the visit.
Prior to the visit, Indonesian and British held talks on October 29 – 30, 2012 to exchange information on oil and gas, ectricity, mineral and coal, ecofriendly energy and energy plan.
According to Wacik, there were numbers of agreement reached in the meetings in London.
The agreements include cooperation agreement on energy modeling, carbon capture and storage project (CCS) and future energy laboratory.
The two countries in the meeting also discussed concept of Joint of Agreement (JoA) signed between Indonesia and Briton that Thursday ( November 1).
The JoA of Energy focuses on related specific energy issues and cooperation enhancement between the two countries.
The officials of the two nations also agreed to have meeting once in two years regularly in the years ahead.
Jero Wacik’s visti to London was also aimed to ask the British Petroleum (BP), British Energy Company, to invest US $12 Billion on Indonesian project of Train-3 Lapangan Tagguh plantation building and premier oil plantation building that would need for US $700 million investment.
