[Indonesia Report] Villagers in some regions suffer from clean water shortage

Some Indonesian live in Nusa Tenggara Timur Province found living in a clean water shortage, forced to drink salty water to survive.

Kompas,com, an internet media,  reported that Maumere Social Development Foundation’s (Yaspem) Program Manager, Aleksius Arman Jaya, said “Eastern Flores, Nusa Tenggara Timur Province, inevitably consume salty water from their wells because of a long-drought that cause wells dried.

Several other villages such as Waekokak, Ngkling, and Wae Rii also suffered from clean water shortage.

Yasmpem and Gambara Jakarta Foundation went to Ngkling Village on Saturday (Sept 29) to deliver health services to the villagers.

Jaya told Kompas that they just recently found out the fact that the villagers consume salty water when they went there to give them free health care.

The two foundations bring free health service to several villages in Nusa Tenggara Timur.

Beside clean water shortage, the villagers in some districts also are suffering from Acute Respiratory Tract Infections, Malaria, and Elephantiasis. Those are common disease among people in Flores.
